Moncton to host the next edition of the Éloize event

Moncton, November 3, 2009 - Moncton will be the host city for the 11th edition of the Éloize event, produced by the Acadian Association of Professional Artists of New Brunswick (AAAPNB).

The Éloize event will be held from April 29 to May 2, 2010. The program of activities includes a varied selection of artistic performances as well as the gala ceremony, at which the Éloize awards honouring artistic excellence in 14 categories will be presented.

The AAAPNB is very pleased that the selection committee has chosen Moncton, which last hosted the Éloizes in 2004. “After adopting a new format in 2007, the Éloize event has become a great way to raise community awareness of the creative process and the quality and originality of professional artists’ work,” said AAAPNB president Louise Lemieux. “After taking a year’s sabbatical, the Éloize event is back in force, ready to energize the city and shine a spotlight on artistic excellence.”

For the City of Moncton, whose strategic goals include support for the arts and culture, the opportunity to host the 2010 Éloize event is a natural fit. “We’re proud to be hosting the 11th edition of the Éloize event in a collective celebration of artistic excellence,” said Moncton mayor George LeBlanc. “We realize that the arts and culture have a strong power of attraction. They make Moncton a city of choice with an enviable quality of life.”

The AAAPNB has commissioned a veteran team to handle the production duties. Yannick Mainville has been hired to coordinate and direct the event, while Amélie Gosselin will be in charge of artistic direction.

The Éloize awards finalists and the artistic program will be announced in early 2010. The AAAPNB is very pleased with the quantity and quality of the submissions it has received.

In June 2009, the AAAPNB decided to produce the Éloize event every two years due to budget constraints.

The governments of Canada and New Brunswick are also providing financial support.
