2010 Éloizes Event to Boast Bold and Creative Programming

Moncton, April 7, 2010 – The Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick (AAAPNB) today unveiled the programming for the Éloizes today, to be held in Moncton from April 29 to May 1, 2010. The event, which promotes audacity and creativity in the arts, will feature a wide range of activities that showcase local talent. Everyone is invited to attend this great event.

The programming that was unveiled this morning pushes the envelope and is full of discoveries. Activities include the not-to-be-missed Soirée des Éloizes. The event, in its 11th year, is jam-packed, with screenings of films, including those of the media arts finalists; a number of performances, such as La relève et la garde and the late show; the chance to meet with the finalists through Activités jeunesses; the Anne et compagnie radio show live from the Moncton Market; and the opening of the Finalistes Éloizes 2010 exhibit. The programming, which was developed by Amélie Gosselin, Artistic Director for the Event, will allow the public to discover the vitality, quality and uniqueness of the creative work being done by professional Acadian artists. “The idea behind the programming was really to appeal to a broad public of all ages. There will be something for everyone: children and adults, as well as connoisseurs and amateurs. I am especially thrilled at the response we’ve received from the artists, who want to offer performances that are a little outside their comfort zone. The public will be treated to some duos and a variety of astounding and frankly unique performances! My sense is that the artists are all very proud to be taking part in, and to be associated with, the Éloizes,” said Gosselin.

The Artistic Director for the Event also announced that singer Isabelle Boulay will be taking to the stage at the Soirée des Éloizes. Her appearance, made possible through a partnership between the Société Nationale de l’Acadie, the Bureau du Québec dans les provinces de l’Atlantique and the AAAPNB, is designed to bring Acadie and Québec closer together. “We are delighted with the results of this new partnership. We believe that this showcase will mean more than just exposure and significant spin-offs for the finalists. It will also help put them on the radar of Quebec producers and broadcasters,” added Carmen Gibbs, Executive Director of the AAAPNB.

In the design team’s view, the programming will offer something for everyone. More than ever, the public will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the many professional artists.
