Porch View Dances is back – bigger and better than ever!*

Kaeja d’Dance welcomes Canadian established, mid-career and emerging choreographers/creators, inclusive of all cultural and stylistic backgrounds, with a minimum of 2-5 years of professional experience, to apply. Artists will be leading choreographic workshops with community participants (non dancer families) resulting in public performances on the porches and in the front yards of the community members' homes for Porch View Dances 2014, a public-participatory community dance festival presented in partnership with St Alban’s Boys’ & Girls’ Club and a family of other supporters in mid-July 2014. Conceived by Karen Kaeja and developed with Allen Kaeja, Porch View Dances (PVD) has become a summer event that attracts spectators from across Ontario. Celebrating the lives and stories of real families and residents of Seaton Village. A tour guide leads audiences from dwelling to dwelling, through the streets of the neighbourhood, to witness the Porch View Dances, experience magical anecdotes, surprise vignettes, audience interactive installations and culminates in an audience inclusive Flock Landing in Vermont Square Park.

Applications are open for choreographers of the following two options:

Porch View Dances – Selected choreographers/creators will work with local families, residents and youth towards performances in the front yards, porches and courtyards of their own homes.
Audience integration dance installations – Selected choreographers/creators will design or remount an audience interactive performance experience where the audience becomes integrated with the art

Who is Kaeja d’Dance?

Established in 1991, Toronto’s Kaeja d’Dance creates award-winning contemporary dance performances, site works with extreme numbers of dancers, acclaimed screen dance and in-demand education & outreach programs. Living fully at the heart of Kaeja are Co-Artistic Directors Karen & Allen Kaeja.
