Submission Guidelines
BlackFlash publishes writing that explores ideas and theories behind contemporary photographic and new media art in Canada. Articles proposed to BlackFlash for publication should express well-researched, educated, and insightful ideas and opinions. BlackFlash is not an academic journal. We have a diverse readership and we ask that articles be written in accessible language that does not presume our readers understand specialized academic jargon or concepts.
Submissions are accepted throughout the year on an ongoing basis and can be considered for the printed edition of BlackFlash Magazine, an article on blackflash.ca or a post on our blog. We accept article proposals, suggested artists, artwork or exhibitions we should be covering (including artwork or exhibition of the submitter) or general comments or concerns.
To submit please email letters at blackflash dot ca
We receive a high number of submission and article queries and regret that we cannot respond to all of them. However, successful submitters will be contacted.
Please Note:
- When submitting please familiarize yourself with BlackFlash’s content.
- BlackFlash magazine does not employ freelance photographers. Any submissions of this nature will not be replied to.
- Please keep in mind that BlackFlash is about photography and new media art. We do not publish articles on painting, drawing or sculpture unless it relates to the previously mentioned fields.
