Request for Proposals – Galt Museum & Archives Interpretive Mural, Lethbridge
Deadline to apply: July 12, 2013
Installation: October 4, 2013
The Galt Museum & Archives is a medium-sized museum partly housed in the historic 1910 Galt Hospital building. Located in Lethbridge, Alberta, the museum regularly receives over 10,000 students per year as part of its educational programs. Students, ranging in age from 3 years to post-secondary, access the Lethbridge Ironworks Classroom during their educational visits. Many of these students have limited historical context prior to their visit. The interpretive mural is envisioned as a combined artistic and educational resource to provide interpretive information and context for students.
Objective
To select an artist to work with the Galt Museum & Archives on an Interpretive Mural to be installed in the Lethbridge Ironworks Classroom in the Galt Museum & Archives by October 4, 2013.
Outcome of the Project
The interpretive mural will serve several purposes, among which are an educational resource for the teaching of history, an artistic representation of 120 years of international, national, provincial and local history, and an exhibit for visitors to the Galt.
Artist Eligibility
Request for Proposal is open to any Canadian artist who may legally work in the City of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
