Prix Joseph Plaskett pour Outstanding Emerging Canadian Painter

The Tenth Joseph Plaskett Award! 2013

Now Accepting Applications

A $25,000 Award to an Outstanding Emerging Canadian Painter

JOSEPH PLASKETT, Canadian-born painter who lived in Paris for many years, established his foundation and this award in 2004 to facilitate his vision of supporting an outstanding Canadian graduate student or recent MFA graduate in the discipline of painting to travel, make art, or study in Europe for one year.

Since 2009, the Plaskett Foundation has partnered with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) to lend expertise and to administer the award process. Coordinated by artist and Emily Carr Professor Landon Mackenzie, the philosophy of the Foundation is that strong juries choose strong candidates, which in turn enhances the integrity of this prestigious award.

APPLICATION and DEADLINE

Download the 2013 application form at www.joeplaskett.com. Application dossier must reach the Plaskett Foundation (not post-marked) at the Toronto office of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) by April 5, 2013.

The recipient of the award will be announced in Spring 2013 in conjunction with the RCA Annual General Assembly held this year in Victoria BC.

For applications, guidelines and questions (FAQ) please view the website: www.JoePlaskett.com

The Plaskett Foundation and The RCA Governing Council extend their congratulations to the 2012 winner: Phil Delisle!

The jury takes place each year in a different city. Our thanks to considerate expertise given by the 2012 Halifax jury: Jan Peacock, Alex Livingston and Peter Dykhuis.

THE AWARD

The intention of the Award is to provide $25,000 toward the cost to live, create artwork, travel or study in Europe for a year.
