Modern Fuel's 14th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition will be
presented at Modern Fuel from 23 June – 4 August 2012.

Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre invites artists to submit works
produced in visual and time-based disciplines such as painting,
sculpture, printmaking, video, installation, and sound for our
annual juried members’ exhibition. We also welcome proposals
for performances, interventions and live works for presentation at
the opening reception or according to a schedule throughout
the run of the exhibition. The curatorial premise for this group
exhibition is to reflect the wide-ranging practices of artists in the
region and to provide a forum in which to compare patterns
emerging in those practices from one year to the next. Note:
According to our organizational mandate, Modern Fuel will pay
a professional fee to all exhibiting artists.

This year’s guest curator, Rhiannon Vogl, will be selecting from
the submissions received for the exhibition in accordance with
Modern Fuel’s mandate to support contemporary Canadian art
practices that are innovative, experimental, and from diverse
communities. Rhiannon is currently Curatorial Assistant,
Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Canada (NGC).

Submission Details
Please send the following: An Artist’s Statement (max one-
page) and CV and images of one to three works for
consideration. (The works must not have been previously shown
in Modern Fuel’s Main Gallery or its State of Flux Gallery.)
Include an image list (with titles, dimensions, dates, and
media). Please submit only digital images of the work on CD or
DVD and formatted to the following specifications:

-JPEG files only
-1024 pixels wide and 768 pixels high.
-1 MB maximum.
-RGB, or grayscale colour mode files only (no CMYK).

-Number and title each file (digital still); the number must
appear before the title so that the order of the images will
correspond to the image list, example: 001RedPainting.jpg.

-Do not submit images embedded in programs such as iphoto or
Powerpoint.

AND/OR

-a maximum of 20 minutes of time-based work on DVD. Time-
based work can also be submitted as a computer-based media
format that can be read by the following programs: Quicktime,
RealOne Player, or are in the following formats: .mov .mp4 .avi.

-Include a separate documentation list (title, length, year,
medium).

considered for the exhibition, artists must be a member of
Modern Fuel and reside within the region of Eastern Ontario
served by the gallery. If you are not currently a member, please
include a membership fee and form with your submission.
