SOUMISSIONS: Pleasure Dome experimental, time-based media

OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Pleasure Dome welcomes submissions of experimental, time-based media work by Canadian and international artists for our 2019 winter and summer seasons. We accept single channel films as well as multi-channel or expanded cinema projects.

For exhibition formats, we can accommodate 35mm, Regular / Super 8, 16mm, VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray, or QuickTime files not greater than HD (1920×1080).

To submit your work, please visit our FilmFreeway submission portal: https://filmfreeway.com/PleasureDome

If the form of your project is not well suited to single channel streaming, please include relevant links to additional materials in the project description or notes.

The deadline for submissions is  September 15, 2018.

Pleasure Dome is an artist-run, year-round film and video exhibition group dedicated to the presentation and appreciation of contemporary and historical experimental film and video.

With a curatorial mandate to program time-based work from local, national and international artists, Pleasure Dome presents a variety of different genres, styles and traditions, from those of the historical avant-garde, to contemporary post-modern strategies of video/film mixes, alongside other attempts to re-imagine the modernist experimental tradition.

We are proud of our long-standing and ongoing commitment to alternative media arts and artists through commissions, the exhibition of diverse formats and perspectives, and to the development of public appreciation and critical understanding of experimental media art through the distribution and publication of critical writing on the art form.

In an effort to foster a diverse and inclusive screening environment which encourages attendance from as many sectors of the public as possible, Pleasure Dome produces innovative works in engaging and “expanded” presentations which include installation and other unconventional exhibition formats, all with a low admission cost. We often program short length and small format work while seeking out and presenting works by women, visible and invisible minorities, First Nations and Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons across the spectrum of sexual orientation or gender identity.

We believe in artists first, the voice of the artist, and the payment of artists. Everything else follows from that.
